Operator Qualification (OQ)

EnergyU is the most commonly used and widely trusted OQ training and testing program in the world. Our OQ training materials were created with the assistance of approximately 100 leading distribution companies. MEA EnergyU qualifications are accepted by hundreds of operators, and EnergyU records can be uploaded to other recordkeeping systems, such as CERCplus and ISNetworld.

Understanding Qualification Requirements

To assure safety in the transport of hazardous gases and liquids in the nation's pipelines, pipeline operators require individuals who perform covered tasks to be qualified. Qualification requirements are outlined in the operator's OQ plan. Contracting personnel should contact their operator to obtain a copy of the operator's covered task list.

Becoming Qualified

Generally, in order to gain an INITIAL QUALIFICATION for a particular covered task, an individual must complete the EnergyU online training and then pass the knowledge test and performance evaluation for the task. In order to gain a SUBSEQUENT QUALIFICATION, an individual must pass the knowledge test and performance evaluation for the task.

MEA can provide a task matrix that matches MEA tasks to other provider tasks. If you have third party tasks, contact Richard Stump (651-289-9600 x126).

Becoming an Evaluator

MEA hosts montly Train the Evaluator classes at the MEA Training Center in Eagan, MN. Visit the MEA Event Calendar to register. Contact Richard Stump (651-289-9600 x126) for additional information.
